joel's birthday and karl blau!

For Joel's 26th birthday this year, I wanted to make a bigger deal than we normally do, and we invited a whole bunch of our friends to dinner.  Joel knew about it, but what he didn't know was that we actually arranged for everyone to meet us in Centralia, a nearby town, to eat at La Tarasca for the most delicious food you're ever going to eat (seriously -- read the good reviews!).  He was surprised, and we all had a great time.

After dinner, we had to stop at the Centralia Goodwill, where our other friend, Joel, found the ugliest shirt ever.  I convinced him not to buy it, and we got back into the car and pulled away . . . and he decided he needed to go back.  If you can't tell, it is full of goats, machine guns, weed, and roosters.  Woah.

Our next stop was to Northern to see the end of Slashed Tires playing, followed by the amazing and talented Karl Blau.  He was playing grunge covers of his favorite lady songwriters of the Pacific Northwest.  Magical.

Such a nice night!  Birthdays are the best!
